Nyala– June 27, 2026
The Transitional Peace Government of Sudan, chaired by Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’ishi, Prime Minister, welcomed the UN Security Council session held on Friday, June 26, 2026, to discuss the humanitarian and political situation in the country. The government affirmed its full support for international calls aimed at declaring an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
In a statement, the government expressed its support for all international efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions of Sudan without obstacles. It also affirmed its readiness to engage positively with all initiatives aimed at ending the armed conflict.
The government expressed its support for the proposal submitted by the Quad countries (the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Egypt), which outlines a roadmap starting with a humanitarian truce and leading to a permanent ceasefire. It described this step as a fundamental basis for achieving sustainable peace.
The Transitional Peace Government expressed its deep regret over the refusal of the Port Sudan authority, led by Al-Burhan, to participate in peace efforts — especially after rejecting a U.S. proposal intended to guarantee the flow of humanitarian aid.
The government also welcomed the new sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department on entities responsible for the use of chemical weapons, considering them an important step toward enhancing the principle of accountability.
The government expressed its grave concern over the impact of drone attacks on civilians in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, pointing out that these attacks significantly impede efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to the affected areas.
The government criticized calls for ending the conflict through a political process based on the current institutions present in Port Sudan, stressing that these institutions participated in the coup that overthrew the democratic transitional period.
The Transitional Peace Government renewed its full commitment to peaceful and negotiated solutions. It emphasized the importance of achieving accountability for serious violations and creating suitable conditions for establishing a civilian democratic government that represents the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
